Rob joined ESC in 2002 and has more than 25 years experience in Building Services. He has a strong technical background with vast experience in both contracting and consulting engineering companies.


He prides himself on combining efficient and pragmatic design with good commercial engineering solutions as well as the integration of sensible renewable systems and modern technologies.


Rob’s comprehensive experience in the design of mechanical engineering services extends across the commercial, industrial, health, leisure and retail sectors, with a high level of experience in, and knowledge of, the Residential, Primary Care and Extra Care sectors including:

• Design of a 132,000 ft² office for Centrica

• Refurbishment of 5,000m² of office accommodation for TUI UK in Luton

• More than 25 significant developments of care, extra care, and mental health care homes around the UK

• The design and development of Derwenthorpe York, phases 2, 3 and 4 with David Wilson Homes and Joseph Rowntree Homes.

• Development of three prestigious PegasusLife over 55’s facilities including residents and membership swimming pools, spas, gym, treatment and dining facilities.

• Working with Galliford Try on the Blackberry Hill development in Bristol, currently aiding with the site constraints implications for diverting utility services and arranging for new services connections

Chris established ESC in 2002.


He is a qualified engineer with nearly 30 years' experience in Building Services engineering.


Chris is a self-motivated individual and has a proven track record of delivering clients' expectations through a commercial view of property. The development of client relationships (and therefore repeat business) is one of his key strengths. He prides himself on good communication and continually strives to improve the quality of engineering solutions and technologies.


Chris' experience is wide and varied, from research laboratories and industrial production facilities to leisure and commercial office developments and hybrid-use buildings. He has worked in both the construction contracting and consulting sectors and for property advisors in the UK and in Europe.

Stuart joined the ESC  team in September 2015.


He is an experienced electrical supervisor and inspection & testing engineer. Stuart has worked on a wide variety of projects such as Coventry Hospital University refurbishment, the redevelopment of Ascot Racecourse, Library of Birmingham, various HM Prisons & Court sites and, most recently, Resorts World Birmingham.

Chris joined our team in May 2017. With more than two years’ experience as an ecologist (including undertaking Habitat Surveys and species-specific ecological surveys), Chris is tasked with providing ecological guidance and information to our clients’, as well as preparing the relevant reports and documentation in support of their planning applications.
He is experienced in carrying out many types of ecological surveys (including great-crested newts, reptiles, water voles, otters, bats, badgers, birds, white-clawed crayfish, fish and aquatic macro invertebrates) and also undertakes Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties.

Amy joined ESC in July 2016 following her MSc (Hons) in Environmental Change, Impact and Adaptation at Aberystwyth University. She became a qualified BREEAM Assessor in December 2016.


Amy has qualified in the majority of BREEAM schemes, thereby enabling her to undertake assessments for different building types (including both commercial and public properties). This role not only involves undertaking the formal assessment but also providing advice on methods and compliance as well as producing strategies to achieve the target ratings.


Amy has been involved in producing several sustainability statements, often used in support planning applications. This involves considering various building elements such as the location of the development, potential for low zero carbon energy use and sustainable design.


In July 2017, Amy attended a Fundamentals of Travel Planning course and has since been involved in compiling several Travel Plan documents. These include assembling sustainable travel proposals for specific types of building to be used by the building’s future occupants and thereby promoting sustainable forms of transport.


Recent projects to benefit from Amy’s expertise include Interserve’s new headquarters in Birmingham and the Wellesbourne Distribution Park, both of which aim to achieve BREEAM Excellent Rating.

His experience includes the design and monitoring of residential, extra care homes and hotel schemes around the UK. Qualified as an On-Construction Domestic Energy Assessor, Gavin is able to undertake SAP assessments for domestic dwellings.

Dan joined ESC in 2006 and brings an enthusiastic and professional approach to design and on-site monitoring in building services consultancy. He became a qualified engineer in 2001 and has 23 years design experience within consulting engineering companies.


He strives to be at the forefront of low energy design and energy conservation solutions through the implementation of new technologies in all aspects of building services design.


Dan’s experience includes many commercial, industrial, medical, extra care, retail, residential and industrial developments. His design and monitoring experience for both the commercial and residential markets have proved invaluable in developing a fresh approach to design. Schemes on which he has worked include the new Headquarters for Bet365.com, Resorts World at the N.E.C and the new Sense Touchbase Centre.


His current projects include the design and management of the M&E engineering services for Calthorpe Estates as well as a number of new build industrial units and offices.

Tom became a part of the ESC team at the end of November 2017.


A graduate of Aston University, Tom will be working alongside his colleagues in the Mechanical Engineering department.


Tom's final year dissertation was entitled 'Measuring the Performance of Smart Cities' and included the examination and development of smart buildings (in particular controls/building management systems). He has also made in-depth studies of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics and is always seeking innovations in other areas of engineering which may be transferrable to building services,

Jessica joined ESC in July 2016 after graduating from the University of Derby where she gained a BSc (Hons) in Geography with Third World Development.
She became a qualified BREEAM Assessor in December 2016.


Since qualifying, she has undertaken BREEAM assessments on many different building types including industrial sheds, medical centres, multi-residential buildings and retail parks. Her role not only involves undertaking the formal assessment but also providing advice on methods for compliance and producing strategies to achieve the target ratings. Jessica has also been involved with assisting on BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-Out.


Recent projects to benefit from Jessica’s expertise include two units within the Worcester 6 development both of which achieved BREEAM Very Good. She is currently working on two new retirement living developments in Bristol; The Vincent comprises two new apartment buildings and Queen Victoria House refurbishment (creating 65 one, two and three-bedroom apartments).


In July 2017, Jessica undertook a Fundamentals of Travel Planning course which has qualified her to be able to write effective Travel Plans. This includes assembling sustainable transport proposals specific to projects and developments which can be used by future building occupants.

Darren joined ESC in 2014 to oversee the CAD management and development of BIM within the company.


Having worked in the building services industry for over 20 years for various companies, Darren has a vast experience using various CAD systems and his knowledge and ability enables him to achieve expected targets whilst maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.


He has previously worked on a large cross section of projects in the Hospital, Commercial, Leisure, Residential, Education and Healthcare sectors.

Kim joined ESC in February 2016 after graduating from Aston University.


In July 2016 he became a certified Low Carbon Consultant. He is therefore responsible for ensuring compliance with the relevant building regulations and council planning requirements by providing low energy design solutions for the concept and design stages of projects.


Kim is also experienced in using EDSL Tas and IES Virtual Environment for assessing project compliance with BREEAM energy performance, sustainabiity and human comfort criteria.


Recent project involvement includes the University of Buckingham's Vinson Centre for which he was responsible for the thermal calculations from which the heating and cooling systems were sized. The calculations also ensured the new building complied with the industry standards for overheating and energy efficiency.

Chris joined ESC in 2007 and brings 18 years of design and managerial involvement in building services consultancy and contracting.


His experience includes many commercial developments (including as Project Manager/Design Advisor for builds in London and Dublin each with a value of £50m+) and full design duties for office developments, primary care centres, retail stores and casinos/leisure resorts. Chris is responsible overall for the delivery of electrical design at ESC.

David became a qualified engineer in 2002 and has 19 years design experience within the building services sector. He joined ESC in 2010 and, as an accredited Low Carbon Energy Assessor, is a leading player in our drive towards energy efficient design.


David’s experience in the mechanical engineering sector is varied across many different genres and project types. He hasbeen involved in projects ranging from the leisure and retail sectors right through to precision healthcare and manufacturing fields. He has worked for mechanical contractors as well as consultancy practices and so has an innate understanding of how to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.


Projects of note during his career include residential extra care facilities, industrial units of various sizes, substantial leisure developments, primary healthcare centres and large-scale commercial office buildings.


David has recently completed the new production, assembly and HQ facility for the London Taxi Company (now LEVC). As Lead Engineer, David was involved from concept design right through to practical completion. The role included servicing interfaces with the various machinery and processes involved in large scale vehicle production.


As a Low Carbon Energy Assessor, David has also produced various energy assessments and strategies which have been adopted for both large and small-scale projects, with the emphasis on efficient and beneficial returns.

James joined ESC in 2003, became a qualified engineer in 2004 and has 17 years design experience overall with contracting and consulting engineering companies.


He prides himself on his knowledge of design and has considerable experience in dynamic simulation of low energy buildings using IES Virtual Environment and EDSL TAS, for both of which he is accredited as a Level 5 Energy Assessor.


His experience includes many commercial and residential developments, refurbishments of listed buildings and delivering the design of ultra-low carbon offices. James has also been involved in a number of award-winning Passivhaus developments designing the mechanical and electrical systems to aid the Passivhaus low energy approach.


James is responsible for the allocation of projects to the entire ESC team, as well as overseeing the Mechanical Services Engineering Department. He is committed to ensuring all projects are delivered on time, on budget and meeting the expectations of our clients.

Phil became a part of the ESC team in November 2015. He has broad experience in mechanical engineering in both contracting and consulting engineering companies. His career path so far has taken him from being a service & maintenance engineer to a design engineer leaving him well placed to provide our clients with the in-depth knowledge only gained from working in both fields!


Phil’s comprehensive experience in the design of mechanical engineering services extends across the commercial, industrial, health, and retail sectors, He also has extensive knowledge of the design of controlled environments including the design of systems for a number of clinical and clean process facilities across the UK (e.g. biotechnical manufacturing facilities, pharmaceutical dispensaries, research & development laboratories and fertility clinics).


He has recently completed the new 1.2 million ft² ‘mega shed’ distribution centre for The Range. As Mechanical Engineer for the project, Phil was involved from the concept design through to practical completion.


Phil has also managed the delivery of mechanical engineering services for the new ERA Home Security head office and production facility and four phases of the prestigious Norfolk House office refurbishment in Birmingham City Centre.

Vicki joined ESC in 2011 and now has more than six years’ experience in Environmental and Sustainable Consultation within Building Services in the commercial, industrial, educational, retail, domestic, medical and Extra Care sectors, including masterplanning.


Vicki qualified as an On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor in December 2013, enabling her to undertake SAP assessments for domestic dwellings and became a BREEAM AP in August 2015.


Her background in environmental and energy conservation enables her to undertake formal assessments and also provide advice on methods to achieve compliance and produce strategies to achieve desired targets.


Vicki also produces sustainability reports and undertakes domestic energy assessment, often in support of planning application for our clients. This involves consideration of all aspects of the building including the location of the development, the building fabric, the building services and the maintenance and management of the finished building.


Recent projects to benefit from Vicki’s expertise include EON’s new headquarters in Nottingham and Broughton Community and Sports Pavilion in Milton Keynes, both of which achieved a BREEAM Excellent Rating. Vicki also acted as BREEAM Assessor for Fusion Tower student accommodation in Bristol which has been nominated for a BREEAM Award 2018 (Public Sector Project – Post Construction).
