The Brief: This was a new development of pre-let office buildings on a site designated for sustainable building development on the outskirts of Ludlow, Shropshire. The buildings consist of three small office units in one building and a fourth stand alone building, all two storeys in height.
The development achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating in 2007.
The Engineering Difference:
- The use of natural ventilation assisted by passive stack ventilation with ducts built into the external façade
- Careful engineering of the south façade, minimising solar gain and using glass with a good shading co-efficient to balance with daylight factor
- Roof light glazing to provide excellent daylight factors
- Use of sustainable materials in the construction of the building envelope
