Brief: A state-of-the-art facility for the Co-operative Group. The multi-temperature distribution at Avonmouth was completed in September 2012 and now employs around 900 staff. 

The 435,750 sq. ft CDC occupies a 33 acre site and serves 492 Co-operative stores in the South West, South Wales and the Lower Midlands, handling around 1.3 million cases per week. Built close to the M49, M5 and the Almondsbury interchange which links to the M4, the new facility consolidated two existing distribution centres at Chelston and Portbury. 

The Engineering Difference: The facility incorporates the highest standards of efficiency such as Combined Heat & Power, movement detection lighting, load shedding, power factor correction, roof lights & rainwater harvesting. The building also achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
