The Brief: A purpose-built regional distribution hub for home retail brand The Range, designed to house 104 loading dock doors, 14 goods in/out level access doors, transport hub office areas, single storey office block and all associated staff facilities. It is believed to be one of the biggest single buildings in the West Country at 1.2million ft² (14.5 times the size of a football pitch!) and employs around 1,000 people.
The Engineering Difference: Technologies installed include sniffer systems to detect gas leaks, main roof water drainage systems, air conditioning, energy management systems and state-of-the-art sprinklers throughout. As well as state-of-the-art technologies, the location of the hub is expected to help reduce transport mileage and associated carbon emissions by 30%.
