Stannah, Andover

90,000 ft²

MEP Design/ Sustainability

In collaboration with Stoford’s design team, we had the pleasure of contributing to the construction of a bespoke facility for Stannah, the leading stairlift manufacturer, in Andover.

Spanning an expansive 90,000 ft², this cutting-edge facility was purposefully designed to cater to the specific and growing production requirements of Stannah.

Our involvement extended beyond conventional construction, delving into a realm of customised design that prioritised operational efficiency while meticulously incorporating sustainable principles.

The Brief

Stannah’s new facility is a testament to their commitment to sustainability, featuring a range of environmentally conscious features.

The building integrates 24,300 ft² of photovoltaic panels, poised to reduce approximately 206 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually when compared to conventional grid electricity. It goes beyond energy efficiency, with the capacity to collect 10,000 litres of rainwater. Notably, the facility has achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and an exceptional EPC rating of A+, highlighting its commitment to sustainable building practices.

The sustainability initiatives extend beyond energy considerations, encompassing LED lighting and the incorporation of air source heat pumps. These features not only contribute to the reduction of environmental impact but also enhance the overall efficiency and environmental performance of the facility.

Plans for the second phase of expansion have been set in motion, with a proposal for an additional 136,100 ft² of space to accommodate manufacturing, warehousing, and office facilities. The submission for planning permission in November 2023 marks the next step in Stannah’s commitment to growth and sustainability.
