BREEAM Refurbishment & Fit-Out Commercial Version 7 is here!

15th July 2026 | Hannah Rowbottom

Today (15/07/2026) marks the official release of the BREEAM Refurbishment & Fit-Out (RFO) Version 7 technical manual, introducing a new generation of sustainability requirements for refurbishment and fit-out projects.

As the industry begins to transition from the 2014 scheme, understanding the latest requirements will be key to achieving successful certification and ensuring projects are aligned with current best practice.

Our experienced BREEAM team is already working through the new manual and is on hand to help clients understand:

  • The key changes introduced in BREEAM RFO Version 7.
  • How the updates compare with the 2014 scheme.
  • What the new requirements mean for current and future projects.
  • How to plan your project to achieve the best possible BREEAM outcome.

Scheme registrations will open later this summer, enabling project teams to begin registering projects under BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out Commercial Version 7. If you are considering registering a project under the existing BREEAM RFO 2014 scheme before the transition to Version 7, we encourage you to get in touch as soon as possible to get ahead of registration deadlines.

Whether you’re at the early design stage or planning a future refurbishment or fit-out project, we’re here to help you navigate the changes with confidence.

If you’d like to discuss BREEAM RFO Version 7 or understand how the new requirements could impact your project, get in touch with our team today.
